Adapted from Vegan with a Vengance. I tried to find it on her website, but it's not there, so I'll just post an adapted version here. So far it's my favorite tempeh bacon.

Tempeh Bacon

3 T Braggs Liquid Aminos (tamari or soy sauce also works, but I like Braggs the best)
1/3 cup apple cider
1 teaspoon tomato paste
1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke
1 8-oz. pkg. tempeh
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 T vegetable oil

Stir together the Braggs, apple cider, tomato paste and liquid smoke in a shallow bowl.

Cut tempeh into 12 long strips, about 1/4 inch thick or less and rub them with the crushed garlic. Add the cloves to the marinade and add the tempeh strips. Turn the tempeh occassionally and let it marinate for at least an hour - overnight is best. When it's done marinating, remove the garlic.

Heat oil in a large skillet using medium heat and add the tempeh strips. Cook for about 4 minutes on one side - the bottom should be nice and brown. Flip them over and pour the rest of the marinade over them. If you don't have much marinade left, add a bit of water. Cover. Cook for 3 more minutes, until the tempeh has absorbed the liquid. You might need to keep cooking the tempeh until it's nice and brown on both sides.
