Everyone has a favorite pasta recipe. Here's mine:

Melinda's Three-Alarm Pasta
Serves one or two

Ingredients:
Whole wheat pasta, 1 to 2 cups (dry)
Tomato or pasta sauce, 12 oz (about 1/2 of a standard jar)
Nuts, 3/4 cup (your choice, I often use unsalted peanuts)
Assorted chopped veggies (whatever you have on hand)
Garlic, 6 cloves, chopped finely or minced
Pickles, 3 medium sized, chopped
Rosemary, 1 heaping teaspoon
Thyme, 1 heaping teaspoon
Basil, 1 heaping teaspoon
Oregano, 1 heaping teaspoon
Melinda's XXX habanero sauce, 1 heaping teaspoon

Preparation:
1. Put a large frying pain over medium heat and add
pasta/tomato sauce, garlic, pickles, spices, and hot sauce.
Let this mixture percolate mildly, stirring often to
avoid sticking/burning.

2. Add dry pasta to boiling water.

3. While pasta is cooking, chop up your favorite veggies and add
them to the frying pan.

4. When pasta finishes cooking (usually 8-10 minutes),
drain, add it to the frying pan, and stir.

5. When pasta and veggies are thoroughly mixed, serve
immediately.

Notes:
+ Veggies should predominate, not pasta. You should see
pasta mixed among veggies, not veggies mixed among pasta.
I have not yet encountered a restaurant that knows how
to do this. Some restaurants use a huge heap of pasta and
no veggies at all! I've also encountered pasta drenched in olive
oil - yuck! A tablespoon of olive oil wouldn't hurt, but given
the amount of nuts I use, it's really not necessary.
+ If you can get hold of fresh herbs/spices rather than
dried, go for it!
+ I've named this recipe after Melinda, whose hot sauce gives
this dish a delightful kick. Adjust the amount to taste - her
XXX version can put hair on your chest.
